Brazilian public tenders by category
What the Brazilian government buys, organized by type of purchase. Pick your industry to see what is open now and what suppliers are usually required to provide.
Why browse by category
A company that sells cleaning supplies gains nothing from reading construction tenders. Grouping procurements by type of purchase lets you follow only what matters to you — and compare the prices paid in similar purchases, which is the best reference for a competitive bid.
Each tender is classified automatically from the description published on the PNCP. Generic descriptions such as "purchase of common goods" go to other procurement — in those cases, open the tender page and check the list of items.
Where the best opportunities are for newcomers
Three groups concentrate the easiest entry points. First, direct awards: lower values, short deadlines, fewer competitors and simpler paperwork — the place to win a first contract and the technical capacity certificate that comes with it. Second, recurring consumables such as office supplies and cleaning supplies, bought every year. Third, your own region: freight and delivery time make local suppliers naturally competitive.
Labor-intensive outsourcing — cleaning and janitorial services or security services — demands detailed cost spreadsheets, working capital to pay staff before the government pays and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements. They are good contracts, but rarely the first ones.
Using past prices in your favor
Each tender page shows the item list with quantities and the agency's estimated unit prices, and each category shows the average value. Before bidding, compare: if the agency's estimate is below your cost, no bidding strategy will close the gap; if it is well above the category average, expect aggressive bids from competitors.
Tender notices are published in Portuguese, so descriptions appear as the agency wrote them. Search with English or Portuguese keywords — common English terms are translated automatically. New to Brazil? Start with how foreign companies can bid.
